Creating your own signature look and feel can be a tricky process but it’s when you get it right and you exhale that the real easy work begins.
We all know that no outfit is complete without an accessory here and another one there. Accessories just have their own unique way of transforming even the most ordinary of outfits into an exquisite fabulous look simply by adding on in the right places and in correct proportions. If they are handmade that just puts a special touch to the pieces and shopping those kinds of pieces becomes a special and personal experience.
Make a Statement
From statement pieces to the most subtle of them, accessories come in varied forms, shapes and sizes to fit even the most difficult to impress personalities to the unique and eclectic characters. I am a minimalist though so I like my accessories a little bit more subtle.
I recently acquainted with Shanu Tiwatope Christina. She is a handmade accessory designer intrapreneur based in Nigeria. The 26 year old started her hand-made accessory design business called Ornaments in Shades in 2020 right in the mist of the covid pandemic.
She says, ” I started unofficially around May 2020 during the COVID 19 Lockdown in the country. I was bored out of my mind after having tried almost everything namely movies, games, browsing the internet and so on. So I brought out my jewelry Box and dismantled some of my jewelry that I wasn’t really using anymore and created an anklet out of it.

When it comes to accessories there’s always something for everyone. The trick is to pick the pieces that speak to you and your uniqueness. As for now…we will do the shopping and leave the designing to the designers!
Seeing Black African women shatter glass ceilings and reach for their dreams to become the women they envision for themselves is always such a plausible event worth following and supporting.
